Aceh Governor Says “Second Tsunami” as Flash Floods Erase Four Villages Without a Trace || Stay In News
Stay In News - Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf expressed deep sorrow over the devastating flash floods that struck several regions in the province known as the Veranda of Mecca.
He grieved not only for the tragedy itself but also for the severity of this disaster. Manaf even compared the catastrophic flooding to the historic tsunami that once devastated Aceh.
Due to the sheer force of the flash floods, four villages were wiped out entirely. The former commander of the Free Aceh Movement could not hold back his tears as he spoke about the disappearance of these settlements.
“Several villages… they simply vanished, Sawang, Jambuai, Bireun, and Peusangan. That night, those four villages were gone without a trace,” said Muzakir Manaf, his eyes welling up and his voice breaking, as quoted from a video posted by the Instagram account @rumpi_gosip on Monday, December 1, 2025.
According to Manaf, this is the moment for the government to stand with the victims and provide full support for the affected communities.
“Aceh is facing a Second Tsunami. This is our responsibility, to help and serve those who have been affected and have become victims,” he said while holding back tears.
